Vinod Agarwal, Professor of Economics and Director of the ODU Economic Forecasting Project and Robert McNab, Professor of Economics and Director of the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy in the Strome College of Business will present the 2021 national, state and regional economic forecasts.
The Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University undertakes a wide range of economic, demographic, transportation and defense-oriented studies. Since 1999, the Dragas Center has produced influential State of the Region Reports for Hampton Roads. Director of the Economic Forecasting Project and Professor of Economics
VINOD AGARWAL, Director of the Economic Forecasting Project and Professor of Economics, earned his doctoral degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Dr. Agarwal has been the Director of the ODU Economic Forecasting Project since 1996. He served as a member of the Virginia College Building Authority for the Commonwealth of Virginia from July 2004 through June 2012. He was a member of the Governor's Advisory Board of Economists from 2006 to 2010. Professor Agarwal also served as the Chairman of the Old Dominion University Economics Department from 2001 to 2006. His research interests are in the area of applied economics. His articles have appeared in various journals such as Cornell Hotel and Restaurant Quarterly, Journal of Travel Research, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Eastern Economic Journal, Economics of Education Review, Growth and Change, Journal of the American Real Estate and Urban Economic Association, Social Science Quarterly and Southern Economic Journal. He is author or co-author of more than 60 professional journal publications and research monographs. In addition to citations in professional publications, Professor Agarwal's work has also been cited in more than 130 newspapers, magazine and wire reports throughout the U.S., including the Dow Jones Newswire, Associated Press, The Economist, and USA Today.
Professor of Economics and Director, Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy
Professor Robert M. McNab currently serves as the Director of the Dragas Center for Economic Analysis and Policy in the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University. He is a member of the Joint Advisory Board of Economists for the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s Survey of Professional Forecasters. Dr. McNab has worked on issues related to the allocation of public resources in more than 30 countries as well as all levels of government in the United States. Professor McNab has appeared in the Associated Press, CNN, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginian Pilot, and Daily Press as well as television and radio throughout Virginia. Dr. McNab joined the faculty of the Department of Economics in the Strome College of Business of Old Dominion University in July 2016 and previously was a member of the faculty of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California from 2000 to 2016.
